60 years of ZEG – A success story on two wheels
For six decades, we have stood for quality, innovation, and passion for bicycles. Founded in 1966, Zweirad-Einkaufs-Genossenschaft EG (ZEG) has developed into Europe's leading association of independent bicycle specialist retailers. With our strong network, we set standards in service, selection, and the development of new, innovative products.
Based on steady growth and the success of our own brands such as PEGASUS and BULLS, sales exceeded the one billion euro mark in 2016, the company's 50th anniversary year. In addition, the TÜV-certified ZEG quality workshop, unique in the industry, was introduced. At the same time, innovation and development are being consistently driven forward at the TechCenter in Cologne. A key element of this is the close cooperation with the professionals from Team BULLS, which continues to make its mark in the world of sport with victories in the legendary Cape Epic and Transalp races.
In addition to innovation, service, and quality, the focus is increasingly on sustainability, culminating in ZEG's EMAS certification in 2022.

Our wheel of history
ZEG is celebrating its 60th anniversary with a dazzling array of attractive anniversary models from the exclusive brands BULLS and PEGASUS.
ZEG has been EMAS-certified since March and regularly publishes an environmental statement as part of this. ZEG's TÜV-certified quality workshop is becoming increasingly popular. More than 80 dealers already stand for top performance, from purchase advice to service workshops.
ZEG will be the largest exhibitor at Eurobike in the Frankfurt exhibition halls. In addition, ZEG's exclusive brand PEGASUS is celebrating its 40th anniversary.
The sporty ZEG brand BULLS, trendsetter in sporty mountain bikes for all requirements, is celebrating its quarter-century anniversary.
50 years of ZEG is also a success story. Represented worldwide with around 1,000 member companies and total sales of over one billion euros for all members.
ZEG continues to expand and builds a modern administration building at its Cologne site. In December 2007, the executive board and the purchasing, sales, and advertising departments move into their new premises. Team BULLS is founded: 3x overall victory in Cape Epic, 3x overall victory in Transalp. 10 national championship titles.
Europe's largest bicycle purchasing cooperative celebrates its birthday. Together with our 960 member companies, we are celebrating 40 years of ZEG!
The automated parts warehouse will be put into operation and further expanded by 2004.
The administration and storage building will be expanded and an automated bicycle storage facility with a wireless data system will be put into operation.
ZEG expands abroad. In 1994, the first members join in the Netherlands. Belgium, Austria, and Switzerland follow in 1999, France in 2002, and Italy in 2004.
ZEG is unstoppable and exceeds the 200 million D-Mark sales mark. In the following years, the curve continues to rise steeply.
The third generation of computers is installed and the development of a ZEG-specific merchandise management system is initiated.
At Wartburgplatz in Cologne-Nippes, ZEG's own wheel truing facility is being put into operation in a factory hall measuring approximately 700 square meters.
Completion and commissioning of our own warehouse and administration building. Already equipped with a rail connection at that time. The first employee for the warehouse is hired.
ZEG is represented for the first time with a representative exhibition stand at the IFMA trade fair in Cologne.
Bernhard Lakämper and Hans Krämer, together with six other independent bicycle dealers, found ZEG.
